| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This Calphalon One Infused Anodized Nonstick 12" flat-bottom wok combines two technologies for unparalleled nonstick cooking, Calphalon's exclusive infused anodized technology with a nonstick cooking surface. Four interlocking nonstick layers on the interior coupled with hard-anodized aluminum construction give you efficiency and control over your cooking. The exterior surface of the pan is infused with an advanced release polymer. This polymer prevents food from sticking, resists staining, and is easier to clean than most other surfaces. This nonstick version includes a glass lid that fits snugly, is oven-safe to 450 degrees F, and allows you to monitor your food while cooking. The cookware won't stain, peel or react with acidic ingredients, and promotes uniform searing and browning. Durable enough for use with nylon and wooden utensils, Calphalon One Infused Anodized Nonstick cookware is safe for gas, electric, and ceramic stovetops and is oven-safe to 500 degrees F.

No handle? No good. July 12, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
don't buy this or any wok without a handle that enables you to shake the pan and move the food around with one hand while you stir or flip with the other. especially, don't try to wrap one handle in a pot holder and shake the pan while you stir with the other. non-stick may be a non-starter for woks because browning is so slow. maybe it's best to get a good wok cookbook first or watch the guy in the Chinese restaurant at work for a minute.A good source of information before you buy a wok is The Grand Wok Cookbook
awesome July 6, 2008 This is the best nonstick wok I've found anywhere. And the lid is really nice. Great shipping ....nuf said
Good wok, good buy June 5, 2008 This is a really nice wok that heats rapidly all the way up the sides and retains/recovers heat well. The lid is a bonus when you need to finish cooking tough vegetables--like broccoli--with some steam. As with all woks, success ultimately depends on cooking the right amount of food in batches, and in the right order, rather than dumping everything into the pan at once. If your technique is right, you will get great results from this roomy, well-made wok. I use mine on a ceramic-surface electric stove, and it is a pleasure to use.
Cooks well, but not durable for the price May 15, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I recently purchased a 13 piece set of Calphalon Stainless steel cookware, and it was BEAUTIFUL, very high quality, and purchased after much research and deliberation.
I was considering it against the various non-stick lines, and boy am I glad I bought the set I did. This 12 inch wok was a gift with purchase, valued at around $75 on the site selling the set, along with a nice crock of wooden and plastic kitchen tools (a $50 value).
Eager to try out the new wok, I decided to try fried rice tonight for my family. The wok heated evenly and quickly and cooked quite well, though it is harder to brown food on a nonstick surface and so caramelizing onions took medium high heat and around 20 minutes. I was quite happy with its performance and made SURE to try the new plastic Calphalon spatula along with this wok, to not damage the nonstick surface.
All was well until it came time to wash it.
One meal, one use, and a Calphalon brand tool that was meant especially for their nonstick cookware and the wok had already scored on the nonstick finish. It wasn't peeling, but was definitely scoured away in certain areas and you could see long scrape marks up and down the sides. I am a fairly small lady, not some brute, and extremely short so I have poor leverage compared to a larger individual - there is NO reason a quality piece of cookware that was handled to manufacture specifications should have been damaged in the first use.
I can only conclude the quality of this product is just poor, and it is manufactured in their USA factory and everything. I will be phoning the company about the warranty and file a complaint, but I must say I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the performance of this piece. Their nicer line of impregnated nonstick cookware, their anodized line, and their stainless steel are all of higher quality than this and a much better investment for someone looking to get 10+ years of life out of an expensive line of cookware. This basic nonstick wok and the line it comes out of have left me thoroughly unimpressed.
At the rate this thing became damaged you'd be better off with the MUCH less expensive T-fal nonstick, even for a free gift I'd expect more out of a company with the reputation Calphalon has.
Best wok ever! May 11, 2008 We do a lot of wok cooking at home and have used different wok brands in the past - Teflon and non-Teflon coated, carbon steel, anodized aluminum and even traditional woks bought from "China Town". Although we've used Calphalon cookware, we've never tried their woks, until now.
This is by far the BEST wok we've used, and we wished we had found this one sooner. The non-stick quality is awesome, and yet the wok heats up fast enough and is able to withstand the high heat cooking we typically love. The Contemporary styling of the wok looks good too. Highly Recommended.
