Amazon.com Review
The Simply Calphalon Nonstick Anodized line of cookware is an excellent alternative for those who prefer cooking on a nonstick surface and who desire Calphalon quality at a budget price. This saute pan has high sides and a domed lid, making it ideal for cooking with liquids. The 5-quart size is large enough to brown and deglaze about four to six chicken breasts or braise six veal shanks in sauce.

Made of durable hard-anodized aluminum of uniform thickness, the pan is an excellent heat conductor and cooks food quickly and evenly. Its double-coated nonstick interior prevents food from sticking and makes cleanup easier. The pan has oval stainless-steel handles with a blasted satin finish that are comfortable to grip and are held in place by sturdy stainless-steel rivets. Also made of brushed stainless steel, the lid is domed to keep moisture in during cooking. This cookware is oven-safe up to 375 degrees F so you don?t have to dirty several pans to make one dish. All cookware in this line is 100-percent dishwasher-safe and is covered by a 10-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

4 out of 5 stars Good pan   January 24, 2008
The lid is great! The pan is just a little thin (light) But it wasn't $200 like a lot of the heavier pans I looked at... You get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 stars calphalon pan   October 3, 2007
Great pan! Nice and deep to minimize spatters, and heaviness allows for nice even browning.

5 out of 5 stars wonderful saute pan   February 8, 2007
I was an 18/10 stainless-steel user until I got this pan. Nothing sticks in it and it cleans like a breeze. I love it! I was looking for just a chicken fryer, but this is great for any and everything.

5 out of 5 stars Calphalon & Gas--A Great Combination!   November 5, 2006

I bought the Calphalon 5-quart saute pan for my wife, who has wanted it for several years. It was the price that held us back. The price I got from Amazon was considerably less than I was prepared to pay for the same pan at Bed Bath & Beyond.

I used it to make pork chops with a tomato basel sauce and provolone cheese top. Our gas stove and the saute pan did a perfect job. I particularly like the fact that I can see through the lid which is primarily tempered glass.

Great pan!

I Love this pan and Size.
I wasn't going to buy this pan at first, cause it was the "Simply", But I'm not sorry at all...

I have alot of Calphalon Commercial (at least 20), and yes it's thicker, But I think this cooks very well.
Being that this is abit lighter, I find when its filled up, its heavy enough for me, and easyier to handle.
The price is also alot less then the Calphalon Commercial.
Since you most likely would not use this pan everyday, I would think you would not need a lifetime warentee like the Commercial gives you , if you use it the right way.

I have sauted hamburger meat, onions, peppers ect. emptyed the fat off, added sauses, and continued cooking everything together, then puting this into the oven to finish it off..
Never a problem.

I have used this for making Large Egg Omelets, the cheese has never stuck.
Use it for fryed potatoes with low fat cheese, and I don't need to use alot of oil,
The nonstick works fine.
I have used this for sauteing Pasta with sauses..

This is a large size, so you can put alot into this and have left overs.
You can make pancakes, frenched toast, I would think anything you want..
I guess what I'm saying is, you can use this size for anything.

I do have the Calphalon Commercial double gridle, but if you don't have room for all the peices that I have, this can cover alot.
I have found this to cook even, and you don't need to turn your stove on high.

This lid seems to fit fine, and its a bit domed. I don't have a problem with it.
The sides are stright up, and seems high enough.
Lots of flat space in the bottom.

Mine is also made in Ohio, not Japan, but you never know with some peices of Calphalon lately!!

This washes very easy.
Never put any Calphalon into the dishwasher, altho this lid you could put into the dishwasher ( I don't tho)

I would buy this again...I only paid $42.00 for this, so I did buy two of them, one for a gift.
I don't understand Amazon's priceing , as sometimes the Calphalon Commercial can be less money!!
So I would say, take the time and check out your other options, as the Calphalon Commercial has more layers of nonstick and is a higher quality, but don't let that scare you off from buying this one.
