4 out of 5 stars An outdoor cooking must   June 29, 2008
very useful for outdoor cooking gatherings and barbeque get-togethers. Stir fry in this and show off to your friends. This has a little problem though.. It kinda gets spotty while cooking on high heat. It doesn't bother the contents though. It just kinda looks wierd.

3 out of 5 stars Not easy to season   February 15, 2007
I guess this can be a great wok if I know how to season it right. I followed the instructions attached and checked out several websites on seasoning tips. But I still can't get the seasoning right. The wok is unevenly seasoned, everything sticks to it and a little seasoning comes off with each cooking. I wish I can see a correctly seasoned wok so I can tell what's wrong with mine. Also, the instruction says do not use soap to clean the wok after each use and I am a clean freak and likes all my cooking utensils squeeky clean. Anyway, I do not recommend this wok to novice wok seasoners.

5 out of 5 stars The ideal wok!   January 6, 2007
I LOVE to stir-fry, and had used a Calphalon non-stick stir-fry pan for a long time, but I realized that I missed that particular flavor ("the breath of the wok" as the Chinese call it) you get with a carbon steel wok. But they're usually so heavy, bulky and hard to store. This Joyce Chen wok is perfect as far as I'm concerned. It is a 12", which is plenty big enough to stir-fry for two people and still have plenty of leftovers. The skillet handle is the right length both to steady the wok while I'm working and to lift and tilt it for serving. The pan is sturdy but not too heavy, and the lack of a second handle (which it doesn't need) makes it easy to store. Also, I never use the lid (and already have my own wok tools) so I was delighted to be able to purchase a wok and nothing else. I'm very satisfied, and would definitely recommend it.
