Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This well-balanced, roomy, and surprisingly lightweight pan spans two burners. The grids are well spaced, running on the diagonal instead of straight across, and sear in deep, rich grill marks, which add a pleasant charred accent to vegetables and meat. Cure it first with a quick wipe of oil. It will accommodate six chops or burgers, and they'll cook in short order. While they're resting, grill peppers and mushrooms to accompany them. Cleanup is a snap.

Amazon.com Review
This 10-3/8-by-18-7/8-inch heavy cast-aluminum griddle fits over two gas or electric rangetop burners, including flat surface rangetops, making it easy to cook for a large group. The ribbed surface lets you grill steaks and seafood, just like on your outdoor grill. The ribs hold food above the griddle so fats drain into the recessed channel, while the juices cook in the wells, "smoking" the food for that outdoor flavor. The nonstick surface is reinforced with stainless steel, which forms a permanent base for the nonstick coating. That means it will last up to 100 times longer than other nonsticks. The commercial-grade cast aluminum conducts heat more evenly than other surfaces, and at lower temperatures--in fact, you should use only low-to-medium heat with this griddle. As an added feature, the superconductive aluminum also works well to thaw frozen foods without the use of heat (steaks in 30-45 minutes, chicken in 20-30). Use only wooden, nylon, or nonmetallic utensils. Hand wash without abrasives. --Doree Armstrong

We found this griddle to be extremely hard to clean.....almost impossible, in fact. I'm not happy with it at all.

1 out of 5 stars Chef's Design Nonstick griddle CAN'T be cleaned. IT'S A LIE!   December 9, 2004

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I can't tell you how angry I am that my wife bought this piece of junk cookware. We cooked some chicken on it, a few burned and left some charcoal-like chunks and residue stuck to the ribs of the griddle. Fine. It should wash off easily right because it has a NONSTICK coating. IT'S A LIE!! It's nonstick in NAME ONLY. So what do you do? You have to scrub it off with a wire brush. And all those bits of so-called nonstick coating peel away and later flake away INTO your food the next time you cook with it! How dangerous is that? Ridiculous product with a ridiculous claim. This Wisconsin company should be SUED! I have sent a letter to the Better Business Bureau of that state.

2 out of 5 stars Poor design, mediocre quality   October 24, 2003

I received this as a gift, and was looking forward to cooking up lots of pancakes or french toast at once. However, because of the design of the grease/juice wells on two corners, the griddle will not sit evenly on my gas range. I tried various positions, but gave up. If your range has square racks, avoid this.

One more thing - after relatively few uses, and only using wooden spatulas, the "nonstick" surface began to wear and foods started sticking badly.

FYI- I based my purchase decision largely upon the review listed above. Foolishly. This griddle is NOT reversible, so you cannot do pancakes etc. It is a rangetop GRILL, nothing griddle about.

5 out of 5 stars Great product with so many uses!   August 22, 2003

I've always wanted to try a range top-type griddle, and this one has turned out to be one of my favorite gifts I received for my wedding shower. The griddle fits securely over my two gas burners and heats up evenly. On the smooth side, I have been able to cook pancakes and french toast to perfection: no more misshapen pancakes from trying to fit them in a round frying pan, and no more having to make french toast in several batches--this griddle holds EIGHT full-sized slices at once! The grill side is great for making things like hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausage indoors; I even throw on some onions at times to have quick, perfect fried onions. The non-stick surface makes clean-up a breeze: I simply run some water over mine, give it a few swips with a non-abrasive sponge, and that's it! This griddle is so is to use, and it does a great job with cooking a wide variety of foods. I highly recommend it!
