Product Description
Using a powerful microprocessor, GPS, and satellite-based accuracy enhancement technology, the SkyCaddie automatically calculates, as you move, distances to up to forty targets per hole simultaneously in less than a second. You will already have your number when you get to your ball. You don't need a clear line of sight or reflective target with the SkyCaddie. Because the targets are pre-programmed, the SkyCaddie eliminates the need to aim through a lens, accidentally hitting the wrong target on a hole, or trying to hit a pin with a laser beam at 200 yards.Get accurate measurements over hills, trees, and obstructions to any target. Play confidently and knock strokes off your game. Learn how far you hit your drive, 5-iron, 9-iron, or wedge with a touch of a button.Just let the SkyCaddie see the sky, and it'll do all the yard work for you! Plus, at a mere 4.8 ounces, it goes anywhere you go. Now your game can measure up, just like the SkyCaddie!

Amazon.com Product Description
Designed for avid golfers who want advanced capability in a light, compact and rugged form, the SkyCaddie SG2 Golf GPS gives you an eagle?s view of each hole from anywhere on the course. In addition to getting distances to bunkers and other hazards on the course, the SG2 is equipped with the patented IntelliGreen technology, enabling you to measure the full depth and shape of the green from any angle of approach, both on or off the fairway. Part of SkyCaddie's exclusive, professional 4-Star SkyCourses, IntelliGreen graphics provide an eagle's eye view of the green with an indicator representing a direct line-of-play from wherever you are on the course.

The SkyCaddie is as easy to use as a remote control or cell phone. If all you want are distances to the green, just turn it on and you won't need to touch another button throughout your round. The SG2 automatically advances to the hole you're on and displays the same information you'd find on a sprinkler head, regardless of where you hit your ball.

With an annual SkyPlayer Club Membership Plan (not included with purchase of device), you can easily download thousands of our professionally enabled SkyCourses. Three different levels of memberships are available, based on how many courses you want to store and play. If you do not want a membership and your course is not already available, you can record the front, center and back of each green with your SkyCaddie's quick set-up module, which takes about 10 seconds.

The SG2 has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. A full charge of a depleted battery only takes 3 to 4 hours and typically lasts up to 10 hours of continuous use.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can the SG2 give me the distance to the pin?
A: The SG2, using the IntelliGreen graphics found on our professionally recorded SkyCourses, provides more useful information than just the distance to the pin alone. Once the line of play is selected on the graphical green outline, this provides the minimum carry to get on the green, the maximum limit you have to the back of the green, plus you can adjust to obtain the third distance of the approximate flag location using a pinsheet supplied by your course or visual observation. All three distances are provided simultaneously from any direction as you approach the green. You can then frame your shot in a much larger target area and select the best club. You will hit more greens and have shorter putts than a single number can provide.

Q: Does the SG2 automatically come with the courses I want?
A: No, but you have two ways to get the courses you want. First, the SG2 includes a special feature to make it very easy (less than 10 seconds on the green of each hole) to set up your course to measure distances to the green. SkyCaddie also offers three modestly priced membership plans that offer a number of benefits and access to course information on thousands of professionally mapped courses through the SkyGolfGPS website.

5 out of 5 stars Definitely improves my game!   November 18, 2008
I've played with my SG2 for a few rounds and since then my best round dropped from a 95 to an 87 - twice in a row. It's given me more confidence in my shots and has made the game a lot more fun - no more hunting for markers or sprinkler heads!

The first time I used it, I didn't give it time to orient itself and it didn't work at all. My bad.

Since then, I give it 10 minutes on my golf bag before a round to get oriented and it's ready to go. It has worked perfectly. I purchased it because of the intelligreen feature and this has been worth every penny! Being able to target specific areas of the green and knowing its shape has saved me many strokes and is a real confidence booster when you're shooting over hazards. The extra information is a lot more useful than just front, center, and back of the green, and it's extra cool how the distance can be updated by moving the cursor to the exact point on the green you want to hit.

The four star courses are extremely well-mapped with and it's easy to update the courses on the unit via the USB interface. I live in the San Diego area and all the courses I play around here have been mapped. It would be nice if it held more than 10 courses but that's just being greedy.

And for you Mac-heads like me, their software works great with my new iMac, no problems at all.

If you like to golf and you have all the right clubs, this should be your next investment. It's not cheap but it's less than the price of a good hybrid. (And you''ll always be the most popular golfer in your foursome!)

3 out of 5 stars Good for the price   July 6, 2008
Purchased through Amazon deal of the day. Works well but sometimes doesn't find satellites. On line service didn't have the best of my county courses.

1 out of 5 stars sky caddie   June 24, 2008
I was disappointed with the sky caddie. It would turn off after seconds of turning on, all on it's own. My husband was not able to use it, and we had to return it. Upon calling Sky Caddie to try to get the problem resolved, they told us because we didn't purchase it through Sky Caddie directly, there would be a minimum $35 to $100 charge to try to fix it.

2 out of 5 stars SkyCaddie - Good Idea... Bad Execution   May 19, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I have had my Skycaddie for a few years now. The features are pretty good, but as some reveiers have posted, the quality is NOT that good. Belt clip... I have stopped using it. If you want to test the likelihood of some one actually returning your lost Skycaddie; go ahead and risk using the belt clip.

The Web interface is sooooo frustrating. First it is VERY slow. Then you have to take a gamble to see if the web interface will recognize your Skycaddie unit on the first try. To add a course to my unit, I usually count on 45 minutes. I am a savy computer user so don't think "This guy does not know how to use computers".

I have many friends that I play golf with and most of them have the Igolf unit. I have yet to borrow one, but they tell me that you can download a hundred courses onto your laptop and load 40 of them onto the unit. Once your subscription ends, you can still use the 100 courses you downloaded.

And... I hear that the Igolf automatically detects which golf course you are on and automatically selects it. Not with the SkyCaddie!

I just read that another reviewer stated that it takes a long time to acquire the satellites. That is VERY true. I instinctively turn on my unit the moment I enter the parking lot in order to get a single before I tee off.

1 out of 5 stars It's not the Device - It's the Fee That's Agaist My Priniple   May 15, 2008
SkyCaddie SG2 Golf GPS (Black)
If you are already paying $250 to $300 for the device, why should you have to pay a fee just to use it? GPS for cars don't charge a fee. I could understand if this is a one time fee. But after I paid $49 (the cheaper package only gives you courses in ONE state), then I realized that it was only for one year. If you are only playing 30 rounds a year, that comes out to an extra $10+ a round ($259 SG2 + $49 ANNUAL fee). And after that it's still $1.66 a round if you want to renew the membership. It's a rip off when you have to buy the same product over and over again that you already own. I can understand a 50 cent charge for additional courses but this is rediculous. You pay for an MP3 song and it's your forever. Why should this be different. Stop buying this type of RIP-OFFs and perpetuating the greed.
