Product Description Hosting a large dinner party is a cinch with Stafford flatware. This service for 12 lends your tabletop elegance. Amazon.com Review Strikingly modern and smoothly attractive, Oneida Stafford flatware combines presence, style, and impeccable craftsmanship. The pattern is forged from high-quality 18/10 stainless steel for excellent definition and durability. This construction allows for uninterrupted lines and substantial weight without compromising precision. Highly arced silhouettes and cleanly shaped flat sides complement the pieces' oval working ends. A satin finish completes the look with a subdued luster that never needs polishing. With 65 pieces in all, this set includes 12 place settings, each with a 7-1/4-inch salad fork, an 8-inch dinner fork, a 9-1/2-inch knife, a 7-1/8-inch soupspoon, and a 6-1/4-inch teaspoon. Five serving pieces are also included-a tablespoon, a pierced tablespoon, a cold meat fork, a sugar spoon, and a butter knife. A tidy wooden caddy with beveled edges stores the collection. It measures 15-1/2 by 2-1/2 by 11 inches. Stafford is safe in the dishwasher and carries Oneida's lifetime warranty. --Emily Bedard What's in the Box 12 place settings, 5 serving pieces, 1 storage caddy. Misleading Description - Not 18/10 Stainless Steel November 25, 2008 After reading other reviewers comments regarding the stainless steel composition, I contacted Amazon prior to shipment. I was assured that they would supply the 18/10 as described on their web site. The set just arrived and it is 18/0. I have already printed out the RMA and return shipping label - it will be on its way back tommorow.
Amazon: seems like a simple matter to correct the description.
DANGER, DANGER - NOT 18/10 - Inferior Product November 25, 2008 This is the most blatant example of "bait and switch" I've ever seen. The description clearly states this set is made from 18/10 stainless steel, meaning it has 10% nickel content. SURPRISE! The nickel content is 0%. So what's the big deal? It the nickel in the alloy that truly makes the steel stainless, without it you will have discoloring and various stains and some degree of rust. Want to test it yourself? Just touch it with a magnet, 18/10 will not be attracted to the magnet and 18/0 will.
The co-conspirator here is Oneida. They produce this Stafford set in BOTH metals. That's right; you can buy this set either way. So how do you know which is which? YOU don't! You have to trust the vendor. In this case, neither Oneida nor Amazon can be trusted to provide the product that's being sold.
My plan now is to go to Dillard's and buy the 18/10 set for $160 and be sure that I'm getting what I paid for. If Amazon doesn't correct this type of misleading merchandising they won't be maintaining their dominance in the marketplace.
PS: It's made in Viet Nam (I'm a veteran, nuff said)
Not 18/10 stainless steel November 16, 2008 Right now the set is advertised as 18/10 stainless steel on amazon.com, but the set is actually 18/0. One proof is that the set is magnetic (18/10 steel is not magnetic). Second proof is that the set is specified as 18/0 on [...]. 18/0 steel develops brown stains with time. 18/10 steel does not develop stains. This set is going back.
This may be the set for you. It is for us. June 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
An exceptionally handsome set. Hefty and beautiful. I use it with Fiestaware and it's a happy match. My daughters like the current square tableware and I can see the modern look of Stafford would look so well alongside.
The attractive design and brushed finish is to me, strangely enough, both modern and reminiscent of Art Deco and Scandinavian style. It's just so versatile.
I've owned the set now for several months and find the care incredibly easy. A dishwasher keeps it looking new, with a ocassional swipe at a water spot. So far, can't ask for more.
If you're looking for light to moderate weight, I would caution you to consider not only the design, but also the heft of this flatware. It may not work for you.
For my family, the weight, finish, design, appearance, easy care, and good feeling in the hand make it a great set for us. If you like what we like, I highly recommend this set.
Beautiful and well designed January 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We bought a set of these and love them. They are beautiful, elegant and of significant weight. When you hold them and look at them up close you can tell they are a high quality flatware.
We wash them in our dishwasher and haven't had any discoloration problems. You have to be careful not to let them sit in standing water; specially the knives. Any satin finish flatware will show weird staining/spotting if you don't take proper care of it.
Great set for the price. Looks great on our formal dining table when we have friends over!
