3 out of 5 stars Pan is Great, But the Rack Leaves Something to be Desired   February 1, 2008

I purchased this pan to tackle a prime rib roast for Christmas dinner. The pan itself is very heavy, solid and distrubutes the heat well. One thing I do not like about other roasting pans that I have purchased is sometimes the pan juices seem to burn in the oven which results in no "pan goodness" to make gravy with. I have used this pan multiple times and never had that issue- the bits and pieces will brown, but do not get a burned flavor. I attribute this to the construction of the pan and the heaviness of the weight. I would give the pan a solid 5 stars, but the rack that comes with this pan immediately started peeling and rusting even though I ran it in the dishwasher and promptly removed it. So what is a girl to do?

I bought the William Bounds silicon roasting rack (from Amazon) and now use this with my pan. I could have purchased a replacement rack for $19 or paid shipping and handling to get a replacement rack through the warranty, but I have been very impressed with the William Bounds rack and it fits perfectly in the pan. Clean up is a snap- both pieces go right in the dishwasher and come out looking as if I just pulled them out of the box for the first time. Plus, the WB rack has a slightly smaller grid so even on the coldest of days I can have familiy over (about 20 people) and still serve roasted chicken breasts with baked potatoes and salad in a snap.

5 out of 5 stars Great roasting pan   January 27, 2008

We bought the Calphalon roasting pan after reviewing many styles in stores and on-line. It was priced well by Amazon and my son gave my wife a gift certificate to Amazon. The pan was used the day it arrived to cook a turkey. My wife was overly pleased with the rack, its fit in the oven and the large handles. She now uses it for chicken, roasts and turkey.
It is very easy to clean, the stainless steel is truly stainless. I get the job of cleaning and there is no scrubbing on this one. We are very pleased.

Amazon was the only place I could find for the price I had purchased this roaster - just shy of $100. It was a gift for a family member, so I did not inspect the product until it was opened.

This roaster is the best built cooking tool I have ever seen. I personally haven't used it to cook, but was told it was easy to use (and clean).

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful roaster pan   December 26, 2007

We bought the Calphalon Stainless 16" Roaster when the non-stick roaster we had only used about 3-4 times started to lose its non-stick coating. (I didn't like the idea of making gravy with little bits of non-stick poisoning in it.) This roaster made a perfect goose (if you've never tried it -- do! It's more moist and rich than turkey, but you get less meat per pound). The pan was almost effortless to clean up afterwards --much easier than the non-stick. I ended up not making the gravy (too darn tired after staying up 'til 3:00 am the night before finishing the sewing on a hand puppet for my daughter who wanted a "sun with multi-colored rays" from Santa -- try finding that at the mall!), but the drippings looked perfect and would, i'm sure, have made a classy, non-stick-free, gravy. I would highly recommend this product.

Sorry I waited so many years to purchase a roasting pan of this quality. Very easy to clean. Roasting rack a real bonus for the 20 lb turkey cooked in it for first time use.
