I think these are a great deal. They are solid, sturdy, not too heavy. They are incredibly sharp, cut myself while unpackaging them, through the plastic. They do not look cheap at all. The only thing I wish is that the block was black instead of just regular wood, but that's mearly a cosmetic preference. Great Price for a Great Set of Knives. I got them for $29.99 and Free Shipping, missed the $24.99, but still well worth it! Don't hesitate to pick this set up!

Wow! I paid $25 for this set, including shipping. I ordered it for my wife for Christmas. The knifes came in just a couple days after I ordered them. The weight of the box surprised me. I had to take a peek before wrapping the present. I can't believe what I found in the box for $25. I seriously can't believe the quality of these knifes for the price. The solid chunk of wood, which is the knife holder, is worth $25! If you can get these on sale for $25, I'd suggest you jump all over the deal.

These knives are very heavy and sturdy for the price. As mentioned in another review, there is a cleaver included that is very heavy and nicely made. They are packaged to survive a drop from an airplane, it seems. The knives all had plastic tips on them to protect them (and you, during the unpacking process) which I thought was a nice touch. That said, the packaging is plain generic cardboard and not very attractive, so if it is a gift for a shallow person....they might not like it. :-) Also, the workmanship is a bit rough on the handles, and the prominent "CHINA" on the blades is a bit off-putting. My set is not as sharp as I would like either, this seems to be hit-or-miss according to the other reviews. I wish there was a 3.5 star rating. For the price I paid during a Friday Sale, it was a good value but I think I would have been disappointed at the regular amazon price.

I bought this set in Dec 06 and was surprised at how solid and heavy they are built. They are also very sharp. On the negative side, the non-blade edges are not as smoothly finished as more expensive sets, but I didn't think that it was a significant problem. The price has gone up about $20 since I purchased, but I would still recommend as a good value.

I don't know much about kitchen knives, but these are the best knives I've ever owned. In my humble opinion, they are a great value: very sharp, well made, and heavy. I would suggest these knives to just about anyone.
