Great Item! January 18, 2008 This thing works great! I bought this for my wife for Christmas and I never thought I would be more impressed with it than she is. It works fantastic, no mess, no non-stick spray. Definitely buy one if you do a lot of baking.
Not even glue sticks to these things! January 18, 2008 I bought these to use in the paint and glue area of my carving studio. They work just as I had hoped. Clean up is a breeze, even the glue slides right off!
You'll Never Buy Parchment Again January 18, 2008 I've used both Silpat and Matfer Exopat nonstick silicone baking sheets. They're virtually identical, but the Matfer Exopat from Amazon is really cheap at about 10-bucks each. Nothing sticks---Nothing! Cleaning pans is a breeze and rarely, if ever, do bread bottoms get overdone.
I've used them commercially for lemon bars, raspberry bars, etc. in full size sheet pans. Frankly, I won't bake without them.
baking sheet January 12, 2008 I ordered this for my brother for Christmas. he received the product before Christmas and has told me that his is happy with it.
Dissappointing January 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading several great reviews, I decided to get one and try it out for myself. It does create the nonstick surface for baking, much better than cooking directly on a metal sheet. Overall, this is an adequate innovation. Like many others indicated, I did have to modify some of my recipe cooking times/temps.
On the downside, this is a flimsy product. It does not necessarily stay well seated on a cookie sheet, so I had to make sure to keep my cookie sheet level or else risk the silicon mat with my cookies shifting or even falling on the floor. Also, even after I cleaned it by hand with soap and water, or in the dishwasher, it would feel greasy and unclean. Finally, don't use anything sharp on it, as it can easily be cut. I accidentally sliced mine with a nonstick metal spatula.
The mat now rests in peace somewhere at the bottom of the drawer below my oven. I will continue to use wax paper, parchment paper, or a little cooking spray until there is considerable improvement with this product.
