After reading other's reviews of this set of flatware and shopping around, I ultimately decided to purchase this set for my wife for Christmas. I was not disappointed. Other reviewers complained of the flatware being improperly balanced and too heavy, but for us, they are just perfect!! As soon as she opened them, she loved them. They are very classic looking with the shiny smooth metal contrasting perfectly with the brushed, duller areas, and even now, they continue to shine in our drawer. I love using them and don't find them heavy at all. In fact, after washing them, we served a huge Christmas dinner with them, and everyone commented on how nice they were, and when I asked what they thought of the weight, not even one person replied that they were heavy. They all thought they felt "sturdy" and high quality because of the weight that they did have. We've used them exclusively since then, and have had absolutely no problems with rust or spotting from our Dishwasher.
I'd highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a classic, quality set of flatware.
beautiful flatware November 25, 2007
I was so impressed with this flatware set. They have a heavy solid feel to them and they are beautiful. I was going to get the same set at Macy's for $275, but found them on amazon for $99!! It was an amazing deal. I've had mismatched silverware for years and I just got married and we finally have a beautiful matched set. I am very happy with them.

I have owned Satin Garnet flatware for several years, and while it looks nice and the overall quality is certainly decent for the price point, I would not recommend it as it is very poorly balanced. Actually, I find it interesting that no one else has mentioned this in their reviews. Yes, it is weighty, but like several other lower priced flatware sets I've looked at, weight is not synonomis with quality. Good flatware should be balanced, and not fall off of dishes easily, which this does. In fact, a guest commented that she also has an Oneida pattern (sold in a set) that is off balance as well. I would have returned this set, but I waited too long. I rarely use it, and plan to replace it one of these days.

Heavy, lovely design. Folks have said that it is 'really big', and it is, but that's the way that we like it. I bought this set for my boat. Yes, I know, it IS heavy and you don't want to add too much weight to a boat, but I dislike cheap flatware and despise plastic. I'll use paper plates but keep the good flatware!
This was 3 years ago, and in the marine environment that it is in every day of it's life, I have seen nary a rust spot. I wonder if that reviewer is reviewing the same thing? I doubt it, as if it won't rust in a damp, salty boat, it just isn't going to rust.

Great product. Beautiful service which will compliment any dinnerware. I have had so many compliments on it that I may order another set.
