Chinese silverware April 1, 2007 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
We were disappointed and had to return the set of stainless because the forks were too heavy and large for normal persons to use. Evidently the discription and photos didn't show this. We appreciate your kindness in handling it.
Entirely satisfied March 3, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a very nice set of flatware at a good price. The pieces are of well balanced and of a nice heft. Most of the other sets at similar prices that I saw in local stores seemed lighter and more cheaply made. I think these are forged not stamped.
A couple of comments: - The "satin" finish only applies to the finish in the interior portion of the handle. The rest of each piece is shiny. As such they require a bit more care against visible dishwasher spotting than flatware with a full brushed finish.
- The larger spoons are table spoons not wide soup spoons as another reviewer noted. We found them quite adequate for soup however.
- Someone said these pieces rust. I'm not sure what he experienced. These are 18/10 stainless. I've had the pieces for several months now and I haven't seen any issues. The only common thing that is likely to mar the finish permanently is extended exposure to citric acid; i.e., lemon juice and raw tomato juice are the kryptonites of stainless steel; rinse after exposure to these. This applies to pretty much any stainless items. Any other spots will probably go with quick rub of Barkeeper's Friend.
Well made - Decent price February 20, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This flatware set feels well made and durable. It feels heavy, substantial, and solid, but not awkward to use. Our only problem was that the forks were so sharp I actually cut my fingers twice on the prongs.
We bought two sets just before Thanksgiving, 2006, enough for lots of out of town relatives staying at our house for days. No rust problems yet (as another reviewer reported). So far we are quite satisfied.
We did shop around but were quite satisfied at Amazon's price, especially with the free shipping.
Cheaply made - it rusts! January 31, 2007 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this set about a year and a half ago based on all the good reviews here. However within a couple months after using the set and dishwashing them, they started to develop rust spots! I have been lazy about sending them back to Oneida for the lifetime warranty but it will be done for sure. Also note that the set is made in China. An older Oneida set of similar quality I have had for well over 10 years has never rusted and was made in the USA. Don't know if Oneida's quality control has improved since I purchased my set but I don't know if I will buy another Oneida set after this.

I bought this set for my parents for Christmas. When it arrived, I wanted to keep it. The pieces are solid and feel sturdy in your hand. We used it for Christmas dinner and everyone enjoyed them. You will too.
